Anne Nhira (Source:http://www.pindula.co.zw)

Talk about Zimbabwe having talent. Anne Nhira is a popular Zimbabwean actress and model who rose to prominence in the early 2000s when she featured in the soap opera Studio 263. Nhire also tried her hand in singing in 2013 when she released a single, 'The One'.

The former Studio 263 actress Anne Nhira, popularly known as Vimbai, has made her debut appearance in popular South African soapie Zabalaza. The actress, who is now based in South Africa, landed a role as an illegal Malawian immigrant working in a South African hair salon.

The Chitungwiza-born actress is now rubbing shoulders with ex-Generations actor, Zolisa "Jason" Xaluva who plays Sydney Lwanathe, Slick Vic Media managing director.

Zabalaza has all the ingredients of a 21st century soapie - a tangle of sex, drugs, and egos, back-stabbing and sometimes lethal ambition. She was born in a musical family were his brothers are singers. The brothers are popularly known as 'Ju-Wayne', 'Prince', 'Mambo Fletcher', 'A-Swag', 'Shawna' and 'Lamont'.

Nhira made a mark in the acting industry in 2002 when she played the role of 'Vimbai Jari'. She was the lead actress, and the lover of James. The theme of the sopie was drawn from the two's love affair which was full of ups and downs. Though, 'Vimbai' was woed by another man 'Tom Mbabo', James would not stop loving her. Nhari played the role of an ideal woman who goes through rigorous education and achieve her professional goes and resolved to abstain from sex until she gets married.
She then took a five year sabbatical doing something different from acting. she made a grand come comeback in 2013 when she featured in the South African film 'The Rapist' as one of the lead actesses. In the second launch Biggy brought 5 more couples to the house and these guys were put together in a pairing manner. More like a dating game.

The housemates have been put in separate houses and they do not know that they are other 5 couples. The same goes with the first 5 couples that came into the hose on Sunday evening.

My top 5 movies of 2014 you must have watched

2014 was an intriguing year for movies. With no obvious breakout Oscar winners (12 Years a Slave) or billion-dollar box office smashes (like The Avengers), it’s easy to think it can be a forgettable year.

But that’s not really true. Peer beneath the surface and it was in fact, a very strong year for movie fans — from emotional masterpieces like Richard Linklater’s Boyhood and returns-to-form like Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street to action-packed blockbusters such as Guardians of the Galaxy, there’s truly been something for everyone.

If you may still want to go back to the movie world of that year these are the must see movies!!!!!

1.The Wolf of Wall Street

I’m a massive Martin Scorsese fan, but you’d be hard-pressed to argue that his most recent films have lived up to the insanely high standard set by Goodfellas, Taxi Driver, The King of Comedy and his other undisputed classics. Fortunately, 2014 marked a return to form for the 72-year-old moviemaker, as The Wolf of Wall Street threw him back into comfortable territory, with a blue-collar, rise-and–fall story zipping with classic Scorsese energy and black comedy.
Telling the story of 1990s New York stockbroker Jordan Belfort, The Wolf of Wall Steet isn’t just a return to the top of the mountain for Scorsese, but for star Leonardo DiCaprio too. As Belfort, DiCaprio delivers his best performance since 2000’s Catch Me If You Can. Seriously, did anyone have any idea the guy was the best physical comedian of his generation?

2.Nightcrawler

Director Dan Gilroy’s Nightcrawler stars Jake Gyllenhaal in a role that draws inspiration from the likes of Taxi Driver’s Travis Bickle and The King of Comedy’s Rupert Pupkin.

Gyllenhaal plays a weird drifter who becomes a kind of TMZ-style crime reporter. I won’t spoil it further than that, but his portrayal of the film’s unhinged loner protagonist is a superb central performance drawn from a tight script from the writer of The Bourne Legacy. If you enjoyed Nicolas Winding Refn’s Drive, in both look and feel, you’ll enjoy this.

3.Birdman

Okay, make that two comic book movies you should see this year! Except that Birdman isn’t really a comic movie in the same way that Guardians of the Galaxy is. Instead it’s a flick in which former Batman actor Michael Keaton plays, you guessed it, a former Hollywood actor who once put on the tights to play big-screen comic book hero Birdman.

In the years since then, he’s fallen from view as a blockbuster actor, and sets about trying to redeem himself by staging a Broadway show to prove he’s still got it. Think Mickey Rourke in The Wrestler, only with garish, brightly colored spandex instead of … okay, forget it. But director Alejandro González Iñárritu’s Birdman is well worth your time.

4.Gone Girl

I haven’t loved all his movies, but the combined weight of Se7en, Fight Club, Zodiac and The Social Network mean I’ll always be excited to see a new David Fincher film. This year we received Gone Girl, a taut thriller based on the best-selling novel by Gillian Flynn.
Telling the story of a missing woman whose husband becomes the subject of suspicion, the movie takes a stab at Alfred Hitchcock-style suspense, and pulls it off a whole lot better than Fincher’s previous Panic Room. If the ending gets a bit silly, that’s still not enough to derail one of the year’s best thrillers.
.

5.The Lego Movie

The Lego Movie is the Pixar movie that Pixar didn’t make. It’s lighthearted, full of in-jokes, and genuinely touching (which is slightly surprising, considering the whole movie is made up of CGI Lego bricks).

Anyone who has played a Lego video game will know just how inventive and irreverent the franchise can be. Directed and co-written by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, The Lego Movie< is everything you’d want and more.

South African Movie- HARD TO GET

Not only did they make a movie which truly has a local feel to it, but they managed a good budget to create an outstanding action film with gritty actors and romance that you can’t help but fall in love with. Not only does it set a whole new standard for South African film, it appeals to most audiences, which is a feat in itself in our rainbow nation.

Pallance Dladla and Thishiwe Ziqubu in romantic thriller Hard to Get, directed by first-time feature director Zee Ntuli, and co-written by Ntuli and TT Sibisi (Photo: National Film and Video Foundation)

The movie directed by Zee Ntini and produced by Junaid Ahmed and Helena Spring certainly took a gamble with an action-romance, not a common genre in the South African cinema, but they pulled it off and then some. A trap that many SA films fall in is rehashing the same-old Hollywood elements for local productions, by Hard To Get felt truly original and just had a good script mostly void of clichés. The movie will keep one glued to their sreen for a good 95 mins.

Hard to Get
Pic source: Online
It features well know South African actors and actresses like Pallance Dladla, Thishiwe Ziqubu, Paka Zwedala, Israel Makoe, Jerry Mofokeng.

The action romance explores the universal theme of love in the very specific context of contemporary South Africa. At its heart, it's a story of two young South Africans embarking on the universal adventure of falling in love, set against the unpredictable backdrop of Joburg’s criminal underworld.

TK is a handsome and charming womaniser who runs at the first mention of commitment. His life changes when he meets Skiets, the one woman immune to his charms.Womaniser TK lives a simple life, until the wild Skiets enters the bar he works at and brings with her all manner of trouble. They piss of the wrong gangster by stealing his beloved car and head to the shining City of Gold. Their new-found love is tested in the Joburg underworld, but find something within each other that keep them fighting.

Skiets is an adrenaline junkie who earns a living as a petty criminal. If TK is to have any chance with her, he will have to survive a gauntlet of dangerous undertakings. It isn’t long before Skiets attempts to steal a car from the most feared man in town, Mugza, and things get messy. TK and Skiets end up in a brawl with Mugza, only narrowly escaping to Johannesburg in Mugza's car.

The cast of the movie

In Johannesburg, Gumede, a charming, quirky businessman, comes to their rescue. Or so it seems.

They may find love, but will they discover that crime doesn’t pay?

Young ZIMBO behind Minaj clothline

Ever wondered the creative brains behind the female rapper Nicki Minaj’s clothing collection? That type of clothing that is seductive but yet so sensational?

Well Forbes magazine found out that Farai Simoyi, London born and United States based, is behind it all. She is the senior designer for Nikki Minaj’s collection. She was once hired as a senior Denim designer for House of Deron, a clothing line owned by Beyonce and her mother, Tina Knowles.

Simoyi is a Zimbabwean designer and her parents were raised in huts in Zimbabwe. She has since been described as a fashion prodigy, much like her boss Nicki Minaj. Farai is building her own label from scratch but finds it harder because building a name in one of the most unstable industries was even tougher.

As  the senior designer for Minaj’s collection, her responsibility each season is to ensure that the entire line that they design and produce reflects the true aesthetic of the brand envisioned by Nicki Minaj. Among the items designed they have jewellery, sunglasses, hats, swimwear and outerwear.

The American based Zimbabwean is a firm believer in industry relationships, networking and staying connected with former colleagues and bosses.
