Legendary kwaito star dies "SENYAKA"

Kwaito singer Senyaka Kekana popularly known for his hit songs Chisa Mpama, Romeo Wa Nkolota and Satane O’ Maponapona has died.

According to several media reports, news of the 58-year-old artist’s death was announced on Twitter by Sports Minister Fikile Mbalula.


Mbalula tweeted that he had received a call from DJ Mahoota informing him that the legendary kwaito artist was no more. The cause of his death is still unknown.

 Thula ‘Senyaka’ Kekana’s family confirmed that he had been in a coma for the past week; he passed away at Kopano Hospital in Vereeniging on Wednesday morning.

Senyaka first came to the limelight in the 80s and is responsible for hits such as ‘Chisa Mpama’, ‘Romeo Wang Kolota’ and ‘Maponapona Satane’ amongst a few.

He will be survived by his two children as well as his partner.

Senyaka will be remembered for his entertaining lyrics, funny stage antics and his public spats with the late Brenda Fassie in the early 90s.
